EMERGENCY SERVICES: FIRST AID SQUAD - HISTORY |

The Edgewater Volunteer First Aid Squad was established in 1981 and initially shared a building with the Baby Keep Well across the street from the Borough Hall. At the present time the squad has its own building across from the Borough Hall.
EVFAS presently has 34 trained Emergency Medical Technicians and 5 Volunteer Firemen.
In addition to maintaining their EMT certification, each member must be certified in defibrillation, hazardous materials, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and coaching the emergency vehicle operator.
These dedicated volunteers are available seven days a week 365 days a year.
EVFAS maintains a mutual aid agreement with surrounding East Bergen Communities, assuring that ambulances are immediately available to respond to call for assistance in the event of a disaster
The squad has annual Blood Drives in the fall and spring of each year, in addition the squad has provided medical coverage at special events.4th of July Fire Works, charity fund raisers such as the Easter Seals Roller Blades, The Avon 3 Day Cancer Walk, Health Fair with the Health Department, Health Fair with Target Stores, Operation - Sail Celebration.
