EDGEWATER POOL 2010
The Edgewater Municipal Pool is located at 916 River Road. It is a small pool for children aged 12 and under. The pool is for residents only and identification will be requested upon the entrance to the pool as well as your signature on a sign in sheet. The pool is open 7 days a week from 12:00 p.m. noon to 7:00 p.m. from June 26th to September 6, 2010, weather permitting. The pool will sometimes re-open after a summer storm has stopped and will not necessary close for the remainder of the day. Children are not to be left unattended and must be chaperoned at all times. Children who ARE NOT bathroom trained must wear a swimming diaper or rubber pants and MUST REMAIN in the circular pool. All children who are bathroom trained and can FREELY SWIM may swim in the larger pool. NO FLOATATION DEVICES ARE PERMITTED in the round or large pool, floatation devices obscure the sight of the lifeguard. No rafts, tubes, noodles, or toys are permitted in the pools. No diving or jumping is permitted in the pools. No running is permitted on the pool deck. No food or beverages are permitted near or around the pools, food and beverages are only allowed closest to Borough Hall where table accommodations are established and absolutely no glass products. The bathroom is located at the northeast corner of Borough Hall below police headquarters at the stairs to the main entrance.
Badges will be available for sale beginning on June 15 at the Borough Hall, 916 River Road, 3rd floor, Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Badges will also be available at the Community Center, 1167 River Road, Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday’s 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday’s 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each child is to have the badge fastened to their swim wear. Each pool badge is $5.00 per badge.
HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION
The Bergen County Utilities Authority will sponsor tire recycling, document shredding, computer and electronics recycling, and a compost bin sale on Sunday, April 25 from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Bergen County Community Services Building, 327 East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, 201-807-5825 or www.bcua.org.

Health Department Services
The Edgewater Office of the Public Health Nurse offers the following services to residents of Edgewater:
- Free blood pressure screenings and health assessments on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Wednesday of the month. The new schedule begins in September. The service will be available 9 am through 12 noon and 1:30 through 5 pm. Walk-ins welcome.
- Child Health Conference
A Child Health Conference (CHC) is a place for you to bring your baby or young child to receive regular check-ups, immunizations, and other health services. A physician performs the physical exams. The public health nurse provides other services including lead screenings, nutritional counseling, and referrals. These services are provided at no charge, by the Health Department. This service is available by appointment only.

YEARLY & MONTHLY PERMIT PARKING AVAILABLE FOR RESIDENTS/BUSINESSES
ATTENTION EDGEWATER RESIDENTS AND/OR BUSINESS OWNERS located in the corridor between the southern side of Dempsey Avenue to the southern side of Hilliard Avenue, extending from the eastern side of River Road to the western side of Undercliff Avenue: Yearly and monthly permit parking spaces located in the Municipal Parking lot across from the Municipal Building, 916 River Road, will become available for use on May 1, 2009. Fifteen spaces have been designated for those eligible residents/business owners interested in renting permit parking spaces. These spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis. The fee for the yearly parking space will be $400.00 per vehicle and the monthly fee will be $40.00 per vehicle. Applications for these permit parking spaces can be obtained in the Borough Clerk’s Office,916 River Road – Room 300, Edgewater, NJ beginning on April 20, 2009. The Bus tickets will be good into Cliffisde Park and Fort Lee.
The procedure will be as follows:
1) Customer can go to the Information desk at the Port Imperial Terminal.
2) Show either Ten Trip from Edgewater, Monthly from Edgewater, or must show proof of residency for Cliffside Park, Fort Lee or Edgewater.
3) Customers will be given a Bus ticket that may be used during the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Fort Lee - Free Shuttle

FERRY SERVICE
EDGEWATER MARINA, PARK & FERRY LANDING
The Borough of Edgewater is pleased to announce the opening of the marina and commencement of ferry service on Monday, March 5, 2007. The ferry landing is strictly a “drop and go” facility. Since no onsite parking is permitted at the ferry landing, your transportation can be accomplished in a variety of ways.
- Walk – The facility is conveniently located at the intersection of Route 5 and River Road.
- Drop and Go – You can be driven by a family member or friend and simply dropped off at the site.
- New Jersey Transit Bus Route 158 and 188. The 158 travels south on River Road from Fort Lee and the 188 travels north on River Road from North Bergen. Refer to www.njtransit.com for schedule and fare information.
- Shuttle Service – The Borough of Edgewater’s free shuttle service is a limited first come, first serve service. Seating is limited and it is recommended you provide yourself with a minimum of 60 minutes travel time. The service will operate according to the ferry schedule listed below.
NEW YORK WATERWAY will have a ticket booth on the barge at the ferry landing for daily purchases and monthly passes and advance tickets can be obtained at www.nywaterway.com or 1-800-53-ferry. Tickets fares are $8.00 per one way trip, $68.00 for 10 trips and $230.00 for a monthly pass.
SHUTTLE SERVICE SCHEDULE: The service will operate from 5:45 AM to 9:40 AM according to the ferry departure schedule and again by the return schedule from 4:15 PM to 8:20 PM. All shuttle stops are designated with a white sign with blue lettering and are a NJ Transit Official Stop. The designated stops for departure in the morning are as follows:

All return trips in the evening will utilize the same intersection, however, in the opposite direction of travel. If you are picked up on the West Side of River Road, your drop off will be on the East Side.
New York Waterway has coordinated their departure and return schedule to closely mirror the New Jersey Transit Bus Schedule for the 158 and 188 routes. In the event you miss the shuttle bus, you have an alternative with NJ Transit. During mid-day and evening hours when the Edgewater Ferry is not running, NY Waterway provides free bus service between Port Imperial in Weehawken and Edgewater.

PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY
The governing body has adopted NEW regulations regarding resident parking permits by Ordinance No. 1334-2006. Any resident or employee of an Edgewater business must obtain a new parking permit by application. A permit shall be valid for two (2) years from the date of its issuance. No more than two (2) residential parking permits shall be issued to any applicant. This ordinance is retroactive to April 21, 2003.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
Residential permit parking shall be in effect between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon, weekdays, excluding holidays, on all municipal streets to which this ordinance is applicable. In addition, the permit parking requires that no vehicle shall be permitted to park for longer than two (2) consecutive hours on any street or road within the Borough without a residential parking permit displayed on such vehicle.
ROADS AND STREETS COVERED BY ORDINANCE:
This Ordinance shall be applicable to all streets within the jurisdiction of the Borough of Edgewater and shall include all municipal streets and roads.
PURPOSE OF ORDINANCE:
Only cars with valid residential parking permits will be allowed to park on the roads and streets covered by the ordinance. Any vehicle parked without a valid permit or otherwise exempted by this ordinance, will receive a ticket.
OBTAINING RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS:
The Borough is currently issuing new parking permits. A notice and permit application has been sent out to all Borough residents and businesses notifying them of the changes in the Borough Ordinance.
Parking permits may be obtained from the Borough Clerk's office located at 916 River Road, 3rd Floor between the hours of 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
EXEMPTIONS TO THE ORDINANCE:
Non-resident contractor and commercial vehicles servicing Borough residents, providing the vehicles are properly marked will be exempt from this ordinance. Non-resident employers and employees of a business located in Edgewater will be able to obtain a non-resident parking permit from the Borough Clerk’s Office provided that proper documentation of employment is submitted.
There is no provision for visitors parking. If a resident is having guests during the two-hour period, arrangements can be made with either the Police Department or the Borough Clerk’s Office to accommodate your visitors.
TIME FRAME FOR ENFORCING THE ORDINANCE:
