Information and Policies
Recreation Programs are open to all residents of Edgewater and Leonia. Some programs are open to Non- Residents, for an additional fee. If you or your child would like to participate in a Recreation Program you must register in person ON A DESIGNATED REGISTRATION DATE.
General Class Policy
All classes are held at the Community Center unless indicated otherwise. Please note carefully the date and time of your class. We will notify you if your class is canceled or changed, so it is very important that we have a daytime phone number. Please make sure your schedule will permit you to take a class before registering. We cannot issue refunds unless the Recreation Department cancels or changes the advertised schedule of a class. We will re-schedule all classes that the Recreation Department cancels; however, we cannot re-schedule classes for students who miss classes.
Age Specifications
Age restrictions have been placed on each program for the benefit of the students enrolled as well as the instructor. Any child not within the age specifications set for any class will be immediately removed, without refund.
*Residency*
The Edgewater Recreation Department is a municipally run organization. Our first priority is to the residents of Edgewater and Leonia, as we share a school system. Any individual wishing to participate in any activity (@ the resident rate) MUST PROVE THEIR RESIDENCY! When registering ALL PARTICIPANTS will be required to show:
*2 proofs of residency: one of which being parents/guardians Photo Identification, as well as a birth certificate/passport to prove age.
Photocopies must be brought to registration; no copies will be made at registration!!
Anyone who falsifies an application will be removed immediately from the activity, without refund and will incur a $250 fine that must be paid before registering for any other activities.
No registrations will be processed or accepted without full payment.
Late registrations will only be permitted if there is space available in the program.
Registration
Recreation Registration will be conducted in person only! Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. No Registration forms will be accepted without payment, completed application, photocopies of proof or age and residency, or fully completed Medical Form.
Once a class has reached its maximum enrollment, that class will be closed; no further registration will be permitted.
Private Camps maintain their own registration and can be done online, via phone, or by mail: check brochures carefully for instructions.
Payments
The forms of payment that will be accepted are cash, checks and money orders.
ALL CASH PAYMENTS MUST BE EXACT CHANGE!

Summer Registration: Saturday May 8th 8am – 10am
Monday May 10th 6pm - 8pm
Additional registration dates will be announced if space permits after the initial registrations.
Refunds
Refunds will only be made if a program is canceled due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather.
Please check your schedules carefully before committing.
Insufficient Enrollment
If group minimums are not met, programs may be shortened, condensed or canceled. Those enrolled in the program will be notified of any changes prior to the start of the program.
Participation
Recreation programs advertised in this brochure are intended for willing participants. Any child who is crying, screaming or unwilling to participate in the program will be sent home.
Pick-Up
Please arrive at the designated time to pick up your child from classes or activities. Unfortunately, we do not schedule supervision for children after class ends. There will be a fee charged for lateness. Fee will be charged in 15 minute increments and will be $15 for each 15 minutes. In the event you are late to pick up your child more than three (3) times, your child will be removed from his or her class, without refund.
Kiddie Camp - Residents Only!
The Recreation Department is pleased to present our 2010 Summer Program for children entering Kindergarten (Must be 5 years by 10/1/10) through entering 1st grade in (Must be 6 years by 10/1/10) of September 2010. The Program will be held at the Edgewater Community Center/Veteran’s Field Complex. Participants will be divided into groups by grade level and supervised by College Students. The program will include group games, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor play, special events, and weekly trips to the Municipal Pool. Children should bring snack and lunch. Registration is on a first come first served basis, once an age group fills that group will be closed.

Summer Program - Residents Only!
The Recreation Department is pleased to present our 2010 Summer Program for children entering 2nd (Must be 7 years by 10/1/10) through entering 7th grade in September of 2010. The Program will be held at the Edgewater Community Center/Veteran’s Field Complex. Participants will be divided into groups by grade level and supervised by College Students. The program will include group games, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor play, special events, as well as Weekly Trips! Children should bring snack and lunch. Registration is on a first come first served basis, once an age group fills that group will be closed.
Program Begins: Monday- July 12, 2010
Program Ends: Friday – August 13, 2010
Time: 9:30am – 2pm
Fee: $210, plus an additional (Mandatory) $10 for Camp T-Shirt

JR Counselor Program - Residents Only!
The Recreation Department is pleased to present a new program for former camp participants who have aged out of our programs, and will be entering 8th and 9th grades this fall. Participants will assist our Kiddie Camp, Summer Program, and After Camp Staff, with child supervision, activities, crafts, field trips and special events. We ask that all applicants are fully interested and committed to the program. Program is very limited and will require an essay. The essay topic is “Why I would like to be a part of the Jr. Counselor Program this Summer?” Essays can be turned in to the Community Center now through May 10th. Applicants will be given assignments no later than May 21st.
As the safety and well being of our camp participants is our priority, Jr. Counselors can be removed from the program at the discretion of the Camp Director for any inappropriate behavior.
PROGRAM IS FREE TO ALL ACCEPTED APPLICANTS
Breakfast Club- Early Morning Drop Off
The Recreation Department will offer before care for our Summer Program and Kiddie Camp. Camp regularly begins at 9:30 am, but this program would allow you to drop off your child as early as 7:45 am. Children will be supervised and will have the opportunity to create simple crafts, eat breakfast (each child must bring their own breakfast), or relax before camp begins. Space is limited – register early!

Monday Afternoon Gym Games

Participants will enjoy an afternoon playing in gym learning different games and activities. Space is limited – register early!
Tuesday Afternoon - Peer Leader
Open to: Summer Program Participants entering 2nd – 7th Grade
Program Begins: Tuesday – July13
Program Ends: Tuesday – August 10
Time: 2-5:30 Fee: $75 Payable to: Edgewater Alliance
Participants will be supervised by Recreation Staff as well as Edgewater Alliance Members at this activity. Participants will spend their afternoons playing in the park and gym, working on group projects, and team and self esteem building projects. Space is limited – register early!
Wednesday Afternoon - Out and About
Open to: Summer Program Participants entering 2nd – 7th Grade
Program Begins: Wednesday – July14
Program Ends: Wednesday– August 11
Time: 2-6:15pm Fee: $35 Payable to Edgewater Recreation, plus additional $15 cash each week
Participants will spend their Thursday Afternoons out and about on local field trips including Mini-Golf, Movies, Bowling, Kids Kingdom, Van Saun Park. Space is limited – register early!
Thursday Afternoon- Music, Dance, and Other Fun
Open to: Summer Program Participants 2nd – 7th Grade
Program Begins: Thursday- July 15, 2010
Program Ends: Monday – August 12, 2010
Time: 2-5:30pm
Fee: $75 for the 5-week session Payable to Instructor-Maureen Straub
Participants will enjoy listening to modern and classical music while doing a variety of fun activities. We will also engage in the art of dance. We will also explore the world of dance through creative movements. Space is limited – register early!
Friday Afternoon- Swimming Splash*
Open to: Summer Program Participants entering 2nd – 7th Grade
Program Begins: Friday- July16
Program Ends: Friday – August 13
Time: 2-6:15pm
Fee: $35 Payable to Edgewater Recreation, plus additional $15 cash each week
Participants will travel to the Palisades Park Pool, enjoy swimming and supervision. Participants will then return to the Community Center for pick-up. Participants should bring sunscreen and a towel. Please note all participants should be able to swim- this activity is not swimming lessons.*IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER WE WILL ATTEND A MOVIE @ THE EDGEWATER MULTIPLEX

LITTLE STARS THEATRE & YOGA
Summer Mini Camps – Edgewater Community Center
LITTLE STARS specializes in classes for children of all ages in drama, yoga and music. We are excited to be offering two one-week mini camps for children for the summer. We will warm up through yoga & dramatic play, learn improvisational theatre games, work on confidence-building skills, sing songs, and have fun. There will be a short performance for parents at the end of the week.

Edgewater Pool 2010
The Edgewater Municipal Pool is located at 916 River Road. It is a small pool for children 12 and under. The pool is for residents only, proper ID required. The pool will be open 7 days a week from 12pm-7pm. This season the pool will be open from June 26th – September 6th 2010.
Badges will be available beginning June 15th at the Municipal Building (916 River Road, 3rd floor) Monday – Friday 9:30am-4:30pm. Badges will also be available at the Community Center (1167 River Road) Monday – Friday 10am-6pm, Saturdays from 12 -4, and Sundays from 4 -6pm.
Each child entering the pool complex will require their own badge. The fee for each badge is $5.00 for the season.
