EMERGENCY SERVICES: EDGEWATER POLICE DEPARTMENT - EDGEWATER OFFICERS   Thirty professional police officers make up the Edgewater Police Department. This year, officers' service ranges from 40 years on the force to three new recruits who recently graduated from the Bergen County Police Academy. There are diverse backgrounds and talents among the department's members. Many Edgewater police officers have military backgrounds while others have spent time in the private sector or operating their own businesses. Specialized functions within the department include: motorcycle patrol, bicycle patrol, working with kids' programs like D.A.R.E. helping with training at the Academy, and coordinating with women's groups on domestic violence solutions. Almost all of the Edgewater police officers are trained as EMTs and offer cross-support to the ambulance squad.
