Edgewater Alliance to Prevent Drug & Alcohol Abuse
ALLIANCE GOAL/PURPOSE
The goal of the Alliance is to diminish drug & alcohol use and
abuse in our community. To achieve this goal the Alliance:
- Provides activities which increase awareness of the dangers
of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD)
- Sponsors educational programs which develop the necessary skills
to resist the use of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs
- Provides Drug & Alcohol Free social events for all ages
- Supports the Edgewater Police Department in the D.A.R.E. program.
- Supports a Youth Peer Leadership Program

Donations to Fund Programming
Assist with advertising, chaperone, fundraising activities
FUNDING
The Alliance receives grant funding from the Governors Alliance,
DEDR money. The penalties from drug related the courts, probation,
and the Department of Correction collect offenses. These monies
are distributed by a population based formula and a grant written
by the Edgewater Alliance. The Edgewater Alliance must raise a 25%
match in dollars to receive this grant. At present we receive $11,
500. All of this money is used for programming and supplies. The
program is volunteer run.
