Dog and Cat Licenses
All dogs and cats over the age of 6 months must be licensed. Renewals of dog and cat licenses are due by January 31, each year. Owners must show proof of rabies vaccination in order to receive license.
A late fee of $10.00 will be charged by March 1st.
Dogs neutered: $8.00, non neutered: $11.00
Cats: $8.00

Rabies
Free rabies shots for Edgewater residents are available at the Bergen County Animal Shelter, 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ 201-646-3200 on Thursdays between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm.

Programs
Free Rabies Inoculations for your dogs and cats is held the first Wednesday of May each year at the Volunteer First Aid Squad Garage, 915 River Road. Edgewater Residents only.


Other Information
The Registered Environmental Health Specialist is available to answer questions or complaints that residents have regarding air, animal control, rodent control, heat, hot water, pool inspections, restaurant inspections, general nuisances, and more.West Nile Virus: surveillance of the West Nile Virus is through the State testing of mosquitoes and recently deceased crows, hawks and falcons. It is requested that residents advise the Health Department of any of the above listed dead birds. The Bergen County Mosquito Commission is concentrating on preventing mosquito breeding. Residents are asked to assist by checking their own properties for any items that hold water such as buckets, tires, toys, wheelbarrows, trash cans, etc., and either discard them or turn them over so they cannot accumulate standing water.
