MUNICIPAL COURT: MUNICIPAL COURT - BASIC TICKET INFORMATION

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU RECEIVE A SUMMONS
If the Court Appearance Required box on the ticket is not checked you may pay your fine at the Violations Bureau or complete the Appearance, Plea and Waiver section on the back of the ticket and mail it with the proper amount. If the fine amount is not listed on the back of the ticket, you must call the Violations Bureau. Payment must be received by the date listed at the bottom of your summons. If you would like to plead not guilty, call the Court at least seven (7) days prior to the date listed at the bottom of the summons so your case can be scheduled.

You may be able to pay your ticket on line. Go to www.njmcdirect.com, enter the information required and the amount due will be shown. You may pay with any major credit card.

All criminal matters require a Court Appearance.

You may represent yourself or have an attorney represent you. If you are facing substantial fines, loss of your driving privileges or incarceration and you cannot afford an attorney, you may be eligible for a Public Defender. Please print and fill out the Application for Public Defender and bring it with you to Court.
