Garbage Pick-Up
Guidelines
Garbage pick-up will include garbage, paper trash, waste material, and all other household refuse and items of any kind and nature whatsoever, including furniture but excluding household appliances. Garbage should be bagged and placed in an appropriate receptacle that cannot be disturbed by scavenging animals.

Pick-Up Days & Times
Garbage will be picked up on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout town except for holidays. All garbage must be placed at the curb after 8 p.m. on the night before pick-up. For example: for Monday pick-up, garbage shall be placed at the curb after 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Holidays
In the event a collection day falls on a holiday, the collection shall be made the following day. Please view the DPW calendar for a list of holidays that garbage will not be picked up.
Christmas Trees
Christmas Trees will be picked up by the Department of Public Works (DPW) daily from January 1-15 of every year.
Construction Debris
Construction debris is defined as waste building materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations performed by a contractor or a resident acting as a contractor.
This type of waste must be removed by the contractor or by a private carting firm, and if you wish to have a roll-off container on or in front of your property for construction debris, you must obtain a permit. Household Hazardous Waste
This program is free to Bergen County residents for the disposal of items such as aerosol cans, paints, pesticides, solvents and many other hazardous items commonly found in the home.
Register
Businesses must preregister prior to attending Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA) sponsored collection events. Businesses can also deliver up to 220 pounds of hazardous waste to the collection events for a predetermined disposal fee. Please call 201-807-8696 for additional information.

Computers & Electronics
The Borough of Edgewater now collects computers on Fridays along with white goods. This also includes any item with a cord, microwaves, televisions, etc.
