History
The Edgewater Volunteer First Aid Squad (EVFAS) was established in 1981 and initially shared a building with the Baby Keep Well program across the street from the old Borough Hall. After moving to a few different locations over the years, in October 2018 EVFAS officially celebrated its move to a new home. Coming full circle, the squad is now headquartered in the first floor of the newly renovated former Borough Hall building located at 916 River Rd. The state-of-the-art facilities include a meeting/training room, full kitchen, multiple bedrooms for on-duty EMTs and offices.

Ambulances
EVFAS maintains a mutual aid agreement with surrounding East Bergen Communities, assuring that its fleet of three ambulances is immediately available to respond to calls for assistance in the event of a disaster.
The squad also provides standby assistance to the borough’s firefighters at the scene of a working fire. In addition, the duty crew responds to medical calls for mutual aid requests from surrounding towns in Cliffside Park, Fort Lee and Fairview.
The squad holds Blood Drives in the fall and spring of each year. In addition they have provided emergency medical coverage at special events. You can find them at various events throughout the year such as:
- Gran Fondo
- 4th of July Fireworks
- Recreation Center Sports camps
- National Night Out
- Fire Safety Exposition
- Spooky Trail
- Santa and Friends parade
- Health Fair with the Dept. of Health
