Temporary Handicap Placards are valid for 6 months, and are intended for residents who are expected to heal from a temporary injury. Residents who are in need of temporary placards can stop by the Police Station to pick up an Application to apply for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Services for Temporary Handicapped Placard. Permanent Handicap Placards are not obtainable from the Borough or the Police Department. Please see the New Jersey State Motor Vehicle Commission for all information on permanent placards.General

Trash and Recycling

Garbage should be placed curbside on Sunday night, Tuesday night and Thursday night after 8 p.m.Trash and Recycling

Furniture or other debris must never be placed at curbside on Fridays or Saturday nights when it will be left out over the weekend. The evening before a regularly scheduled pick-up after 8 p.m. is permissible.Trash and Recycling
Appliances such as dishwashers, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc. are picked up on Fridays only. Please do not leave any household appliances at curbside without alerting the Recycling Department at 201-943-7363. -
Trash and Recycling
The town is divided into the north and south sides, bisected by Route 5. Recycling pick-up alternates weekly between north and south. If you didn’t receive a calendar at the beginning of the year, please call the Recycling Department and a calendar will be sent to you or view the Calendar or APP online HERE

Yes. The homeowner or landlord is responsible for maintaining sidewalks, driveways and areas around the bases of trees in sidewalks up to the curb.Property Maintenance
In these areas, property owners are responsible for repairing cracked pavement, removing debris and weeds, and shoveling snow in the winter. The homeowner is responsible for making their tenants aware of all town codes. -
The property owner is responsible for the repair of sidewalks bordering the property; the fall is a good time for sidewalk repair.Property Maintenance
However, if a borough tree or planting damages a curb or sidewalk, the borough is responsible for repairs or replacement of the sidewalks. All other damage is the responsibility of the homeowner. -

All homeowners are responsible for removing snow from driveways, walkways and sidewalks. Ordinance 1462-2011 amending sections of chapter 380: All sidewalks, walkways, handicapped ramps and staircases, shall be cleared to a width of 42 inches or the maximum width of the sidewalk, walkway, handicapped ramp or staircase.
No person, partnership, corporation, or other entity shall cause to permit any snow or ice accumulated within the boundaries of the property be deposited onto, upon, or in a manner as to limit access to any street, sidewalk, crosswalk, or other public property. Fines will be issued of $50 - $150 for persons found in violation.

Curb your dog and keep them leashed at all times. It is also very important to keep some baggies handy to clean up after your dog. Owners who have dogs off-leash, unlicensed, in the wrong areas, or who do not pick up after their dogs are subject to receiving a summons.Pet Ownership
